I had them removed as when the heating was on the relay unit made a continual tapping noise and the rads only ever got luke warm.

They were only branded as HeatSaver and they had the address of a local company that no longer exists. From what I could see when they were in place the controller, the wall thermostat and the water pump were all wired via the two boxes. Please see below images of the boxes one of them closed...

The electrian was having trouble distinguishing the cables and tracing them. It's a old bungalow and the loft is full of insulation pipes covered etc it's a mess up there lol

That photo is of the controller back plate. The heatsaver boxes were two boxes that were installed in the 80s as some form of energy saving gizmo that appeared to control of the flow to the rads. There were two boxes one was a modulator and the other was a relay. I had these removed. Currently...

I have another question as we had some heatsaver boxes installed but these are now removed but I am currently trying to work out the cabling on the controller unit. Would the live on the water pump go in to position 4 with the thermostat cable?

Hi Has anyone come across these units before i. e. The units marked as HeatSaver. One appears to be a controller and the other a relay unit. They appear to be restricting the central heating in some way. We have a back boiler which is working fine and we get steaming hot water via the taps etc...

Has anyone come across these units before they seem to be very similar to what are being described above. We have recently moved home and we now have these and the heating only gets luke warm at best all the rads get luke warm no cold spots etc.
