The electronic ballast in a relatively modern weatherproof twin T8 4ft tube housed in my garage has blown (one of the resistors on the pcb has burnt and the fuse link next to the supply on the board has blown - it made an impressive bang when I turned it on).
Would welcome some advice on what...
Yes photocell is spotlessly clean.
I don't have a gauge or the hands-on skills to follow the rest of your suggestions, I have a reliable engineer that does the annual service, I'll have to admit defeat and hand over to him.
Bit ironic, I only cleaned out the woodburner in the lounge couple...
Hi
Yes, burner motor runs, overheat stat not lit, pressed burner control reset.
It seems to attempt a restart every 20 seconds or so, each time there is a slight shake of the flexible flue pipe.

hi
My boiler has stopped igniting, I've checked the tank and there's plenty of oil (several inches).
Have checked the and loosened bleed screw inside the boiler and oil is flowing freely.
When powered, the pump in the boiler switches on and it just makes repeated clicking sound as though it...

Also removed the heater assembly, didn't descale as looking inside I didn't see any sign of scale build up. However the top of the heater where the terminals and safety...
Hi
My 8 year old Mira sport is running hot then cold then hot. It started doing it about a week ago very intermittently but now it is almost a continuous hot/cold/hot cycle from switching it on.
Living in a hard water area I suspect it may be limescale build up so was trying to remove the...

If I press the reset button it will run again for a few minutes then turn off again.
I've Googled around...

element measures 25 Ohm which from what I've read up on is about ok, however each leg to Earth is 600KOhm am I correct in thinking this should not even give a reading? it was the RCd being tripped so assume this is the Earth leakage its tripping to?
No way would that rubber seal come back out...
