Well i have found the cause - its a leak setting off the anti flood switch. I suspect i will need an engineer to investigate the leak or is there anything i can do further? Thanks.

Excellent! Works as it ought to now! Gave the waterways a good "pokin" and also did a hot 90 degree wash with a load of vinegar. Machine good as new (well almost!). Thank you ever so much for your help.

Ok - have now really cleaned up the holes with a tiny allen key trying to push it in as far as poss. Some black gunge came out but all pretty soft. Have put a wash on and will let u know what happens. Thanks for advice.
