I had the same problem the divertor valve has gone they cost approx £110 + labour usasally about an hours work.

I recently had the divertor vavle changed on my Vailant turbomax boiler but it seems if the dial is set on Hot water / C/H even if you turn the dial to off mode the heating stays on i've had to turn the bottom dial dial to Hot water only setting, this has turned the C/H off.
