I am a dipstick. It is definately a dishwasher!!!!

Can somebody please give me some advice? We have a Candy washing machine that is not draining. I emptied it manually and it started again, but as soon as the water got to the same level it stopped again. Please help, i hate washing up!!!! Thanks!!
