    If it's not one thing...

Turns out the overflow from the topilet cistern is connected to the bath overflow, and where the cistern level was too high, the excess water was comeing from the bath overflow! Very strange indeed – is this a normal practice? Now I just need to get through another 3 rolls of purple bog...

    If it's not one thing...

This is the thing – I could understand if the bath was running over into the overflow then as a result of a poor join, out the back of the bath, onto the floor, but the join/connection seems solid enough and impenetrable to me. I'm sure it is somewhat far-fetched, but could water leak from...

    If it's not one thing...

...it's another! having succesfully remedied the cistern problem in my new place (listed below in the forum) I have now noticed something odd – there appears to be a tiny trickle of water from the bottom of the bath overflow, along with a continuous (slow) dripping from the top, overhanging...

    Feel a complete drip

Thanks for all your comments dudes – bought a new ball valve and fitted it – now everything is fine – the previous valve had had the button (not the correct word, I am sure) wedged in due to so much scale and corrossion, but the new one is allowing the cistern to fill, and cuts off when it...

    young kids + cars/music

I saw a classic at my local McDonald's drive-thru (I was just walking past, honest) – It was a white Fiesta with 'Made in the USA. Improved in Welling' on a sticker in the rear window. Technically incorrect as the car probably came from Dagenham – but that would surely sound silly...

    Separatist movements

'Kernow Bys Vykken' – a phrase sprayed all over Cornwall on road signs, bridges etc. means 'Cornwall is great' in Cornish – often accompanied by the Cornish flag (the St Piran flag); silver cross on black background, said to represent lines of tin in the rock... Apparently Lisa Simpson is to...

    Feel a complete drip

Myself and my finacé moved into a new property last Friday. We had no problems with the water supply until last night, when we were using the hot tap downstairs in the kitchen and the water ran to a trickle. I assumed this was an airblock and read through my DIY book to see how to fix it. It...

    Just a Dribble...

Okay, this will no doubt sound like a right old bodge, but I thought it could either be the pipe of tap itself, so I thought I would swap the taps around. Unfortuantely my adjustable wrench wouldn't open wide enough to release the taps from below, so I removed the 'innards' of the two taps (hot...

    Just a Dribble...

I turned off the boiler, and the water flow was exactly the same, just ran to a dribble again. Surely this must be something more mechanical to do with the tap itself then? :?

    Just a Dribble...

We had a Halstead Ace High Comi installed just over a year ago in an upstairs bedroom and have had absolutely no problems with it whatsoever. But recently there are two things which ahve occurred on which I wouold like some advice. • Firstly, when the boiler clicks on to start heating...
