    Check capacitor, solenoid & photo cell as all 3 can give intermittent lock outs.. Better check pump pressure as filter has been removed....

    does your leaking return pipe have a black rubber connection piece half way down?

    Check the cartridge is fully inserted. If not this can cause the shower to pass water.
