Can anyone tell me if I get the artex checked for asbestos, and if clear, be able to strip it off with a wallpaper steam stripper? or can i get a good enough bond with tile adhesive without stripping the artex off?

I am about to tile a bathroom that has some mould that has to be cleaned off occasionally, and about to tile over those areas. Can anyone tell me what the consequences would be, if i use ordinary non-mould resistant tile adhesive?
