    Correct use conical cylinder unions

Hi. Is it correct that no goo or PTFE tape is needed on the tapered part of these 22mm x 1" cylinder unions? And is there any rule of thumb on how much to tighten them? Any guidance gratefully received

    Whirlpool washing machine leak

My 10 yr old AWM321 dribbles water from the door. The glass and seal have been cleaned with no effect. Should I replace the door seal and what do I need to dismantle to do it, please? Many thanks.

    Central Heating gets aerated

The sound of aerated water can be heard mostly in the airing cupboard where it sounds like shingle in the surf at it's worst. The boiler does kettle a bit while the rushing sound is happening but that stops when the rushing stops.

    Central Heating gets aerated

Hi Can anyone please advise on a possible cause of the following problem with a newish fully-pumped, open-vented system - Vaillant ecomax pro boiler - in a small 2 bed semi? With either CH only, HW only or both, from a cold or coldish start, when the flow temperature reaches around the 60...

Boiler water pipe routing and air locks

Hi I'm installing the pipework for my conventional open-vented fully-pumped system. The route of the downstairs boiler flow/return pipes needs to cross some existing gas and water pipes. Does anybody know if it would cause air-lock problems if I dipped the flow and return under the existing...

    Automatic bypass valve circuit

Hi, Can anyone advise me please? I'm installing my own open-vented, Y-plan CH pipework and have just discovered I need to incorporate an automatic bypass valve circuit. As far as I understand it, it is just an ABV on 22mm tube at some point between the flow and return from the boiler. For...
