Bottom stair riser creaking and floating

Hi all, I've just had a nice new laminate floor laid in my hallway and now the small creak from the first step has changed to a big creak and more movement about 5mm when stepped on. Unfortunately for me there is no easy access from under neath as instead of plasterboard, there is a wooden strip...

Skirting between different levels of floor

I would prefer not to have any angles other than horizontal (ish) skirting or vertical walls. Your second suggestion is like this, but on the flat wall, with different height skirting either side: The centre post the same width as threshold bar, but same as skirting colour.

Skirting between different levels of floor

So the only obvious slope/step would be on the face of the wall with the threshold bar, and no need to trim 20mm or so around the whole conservatory. And for balance I would make the same block on the opposite side of doorway, even though the step is smaller.

Skirting between different levels of floor

This was my idea: three sided "block" over the threshold and around both corners. Hopefully, the two different skirting heights wouldn't be obvious. The skirting is 19mm thick, so block would be 20mm+ and would be taller than skirting in conservatory (left of doorway) and taller + step height...

Skirting between different levels of floor

Hi ktuludays, I was trying to avoid having to shorten all the skirting in the conservatory to match the height in the living room (6x3m less doors!) There was a bigger step there, but I had some SLC laid to reduce the step which was higher one side than the other! Thanks bobasd, one more...

Skirting between different levels of floor

Hi, I've been searching the best looking / most logical way of fitting skirting from my living room up into the conservatory that are on slightly different levels. The living room has just been done in laminate, while the conservatory is padded vinyl. Ideally I'd like to use the same skirting...

    Cleaning exterior brickwork

Thanks for the replies everyone. Looks like I need to try and get outside when it gets a bit warmer! The "paint staining" is where the paint appears to have run down the wall and is turning the wall white (worse the closer it is to the top half). Looks like either the wrong paint or...

    Cleaning exterior brickwork

Can any of you helpful people please suggest a solution? The top half of my house was painted some time ago (12+ years) and the paint has now stained the unpainted brickwork on the lower half. Ideally I want to clean all of it and repaint just the top again, but what can I use to: Clean...
