Hi all,
I'm having a little trouble getting some celing lights to work. The house is new and I've done 10+ so far without any issue. The living room ones are proving tricky!
There are two lights in the living room. I took the old rose off the first and it has 2*Earth (G/Y), 2*Neutral...
Hi all,
I'm after some advice please. I bought a new build a year ago that has been pre-wired with cat5 cabling for A/V and I'd like to take advantage of it. Buying the house seriously dented my finances and I'm trying to see what can be done on a meager budget, maybe £1k to start, with...
Steve et al,
Thanks for the advice. The *lights* work fine and dandy and all 3 switches are working :)
The only issue being I needed extra cable to put the terminator block at the side of the transformer otherwise it wont go flush to the ceiling. But the backplate only has a small hole...
Thanks Steve,
appreciate the fast response :)
creamegg...I looked at the wikis but the use of the brown wire on the loop was a little confusing. The wikis show black going to neutral and not live. Or use blue with a section of blue sleeve. Hence the confusiuon...
Hi all,
I am trying to replace hall and landing lights but I'm having a spot of bother.
The existing ceiling roses have a connector block with eight connectors + 1 earth. Live (*2), Loop (*3) and Earth (*3). All the lights are controlled by two/three switches.
The replacement lights...

Thanks guys, will try the suggestions next day or so and let you know what I find.
Re the omments about the microfilters, is it possible they can work perfectly in the master but not in the extension? Does this indicate a possible problem drawing enough...
Thanks Guys,
thought about a claim, but have never claimed on insurance and didn't really want to start. But I suppose thats what it's there for!
One thing I don't understand...
1. If I plug just the phone in, each extension works ok
2. If I plug the router in each extension, ADSL is...
Hi all,
hope somebody can help, I've tried all I can think of and I'm pulling my hair out!
My house got hit by electrical storms in June, it fused the alarm and knocked out the phone extension sockets amogst other things!
After the storm, the BT master socket was ok, but I couldn't get...
All,
I finally got this fixed...turned out to be the thermostat. It wasn't turning down, so it was continually boiling the water. I'm sure somebody mentioned this at some point!!!
Thanks...David
Forgot to say, I also bled the pump, I left the screw out for about 1 min and nothing but clean water came out. The pump is red hot and I can hear vibrating/rumbling in the airing cupboard even before it goes nuts!

Guys,
I have two tanks in the loft, one large one small. Am I right in assuming this is an indirect system, with the smaller tank feeding the central heating, the large the hot water?
Both tanks are between 1/3 - 1/2 ful. About 6" in the small tank. Is this enough water or shoud I try...
