Sorry. My brevity was misleading.
I had turned that radiator on for several cold days before today but today I started up the boiler with it turned off and it had been running for quite a while before the noise started. I’ll try your suggested test tomorrow morning.
Earlier today my central heating pipework start to emit a loud grinding noise. I traced it to the radiator in the entry area, which I only turn on when it is really cold.
The thermostatic valve was shut and the noise disappeared as soon as I opened it a tiny bit.
I would really appreciate any...
Hi
The transformer in my alarm died with a load bang yesterday and tripped the circuit breaker. I want to replace it since the alarm still functions with just the battery but I cannot find a new part specifically for it anywhere online. Can anyone recommend a suitable alternative?
Thanks
Dave
I am having a shower pump and mixer fitted. I would interested in views on both.
Is Sonique a better make than Salamander or is there another that is better than both, for a 1.5 bar system.
Is the distance between hot and cold feeds in shower mixers standardised over the range of mixers?

Thanks Tony, but it was the Heating, Off, Water knob that I was turning, not the water temperature.
However, I turned to 0 overnight and when I switched to Heating this morning it fired up and has been working correctly ever since.
My Biasi 24S has just started to show the following problem.
When the thermostat is satisfied, the pump continues to heat and circulate water.
If I switch to hot water only, the pump continues to heat and circulate water.
The only way I can control it is to switch to the Off setting.

Removing a very old Vent-Axia extractor fan from a kitchen window left a hole 6.75 in in diameter.
Is there anything I can do other than reglaze?
Thanks
I haven't been able to open the thermostat. The front seems to be clipped in but pressing on the clips doesn't seem to allow it to open. Not really a big problem though.
On another matter, the pump is a Salmson and doesn't seem to have a speed control. Is there a way of changing the speed? I...
Thanks Tony
I feel a bit silly as it turned out that the problem is that the thermostat knob is about 7 degrees out. When I eventually turned it down to point to 15 (the room had got pretty cosy) the pump soon cut out. I moved in only recently so hadn't tried the heating before except to check...
With Winter setting selected on my Biasi 24s (2001 vintage), the central heating works fine but even when the desired room temperature is reached and no combustion is taking place, the pump never stops.
Has anyone got any ideas?
Thanks
