How can I clean my pool during the hosepipe ban - help!

Option 1 is to get a rechargeable pool vacuum. Option 2 is get a pool vaccum that works via the pool filter but ideally you'd need a filter with decent flow rate. Option 3 as a pp suggested used a submersible dirty water pump/ pond pump to supply water to your hosepipe connection on your pool...

    Gravel board too high

"was thinking I could raise the gravel board onto a trolley jack and use the clearance" I guess I was thinking more that the cut out on the baseboard doesn't have to be that accurate as it will rest on the uncut part of the board. Sure lifting the board is a pain but doable with 2 people...

    Gravel board too high

Surely it would be easier to remove the gravel board and cut notches in the bottom corners.

Help my fence post holes are too wide I've messed it up!

Where I've ended up with large holes I have added 1 or 2 bags of postcrete to hold the post then mixed normal concrete to top up. You can also paint the bottom of the post in bitumen. After you've shaped the concrete away from post base you could also add bitumen where the concrete and post...

Hepatitis in Children: This Story Has Been Building Up Over The Last 10 Days Or So

Most of the cases are in younger children but some are as old as 16. Yes lots of kids didn't mix as much in the first lockdown but they have all been back at school mixing for a year and a half surely. Seems a bit of a coincidence that in the time many kids have been infected with covid, some...

    Vectra C 1.8 16v petrol - thermostat and oil

I used to have a Vectra c with this engine. The thermostat is very accessible and easy to change. The housing is plastic and the bolts only need 8Nm so use a small torque wrench The temperature guage is a false reading as a rule. On a Vectra c the thermostat opens at around 95 and the fan...

    Boiler issues

Had problems with the hot water on a viessman 100wb1b. It is about 8 years old but have only owned it for 3. I had a magnetic filter added last year. But suspected flate plate was getting clogged. Heating engineer changed the rubber hoses in the boiler but then started it by turning on hot...

Half sockets in flat not working?

Well yes. I'm not a spark but an RCD is designed to shut off the electric in the case of certain faults. The working sockets should be safe to use especially if a sparky has said so.

Half sockets in flat not working?

Guess it depends on if it's a ring or a radial. If a radial the simplest explanation would be a loose connection/ broken cable in the last working socket or first non working one. You'd think a spark would find this though and do some testing to find out where the wire was broken. I suppose...

    Cooker keeps tripping off circuit.

"Is there a way to establish that the fault is definitely from the cooker not in the circuit." Might be that the hob element resistance is too low, causing too high a current to flow or that there is too low a resistance between earth and live on the appliance. An electrician will have proper...

    Cooker keeps tripping off circuit.

You could disconnect the cooker take the cooker out and use a simple multimeter to check the resistance of the elements. Davis savery on YouTube did a video where he checked and replaced the elements on his cooker.

    Can my Neighbour do this

Now I realise your boiler may have been there before this but is there now a regulation that you cannot site a flue within 60cm of a boundary? When you eventually replace your boiler you may need to move it anyway.

    Outdoor power supply

Think it is a bit unrealistic to ask electricians this as they obviously have to give advice that meets standards. Might be unreasonable to compare to unprotected sex too! Part p depends on if you are in Wales. I think any garden work is notifiable there. In England it would depend on if the...

    EICR

try and get personal recommendations if you can . Failing that you could try and ask on community apps like next door etc. Try watching a few electricians on YouTube etc who talk about eicr's so you have some idea of some of the issues involved.
