    mcb trip why?

Thanks for the advice Frank - will try the transformer first and see if that resolves it.

    mcb trip why?

Thanks - It is tripping on switching mostly, have checked the switch wiring - all o.k - and it is now switching a normal pendant rose without a hitch. Ban-all-sheds: It is definitely the MCB. It is on a split load dual RCD board, but only the MCB on this circuit trips. I have been told the...

    mcb trip why?

Hi - got one of those fancy ceiling lights that looks great but keeps tripping the MCB. It has 10 x 10w G4 lights with a 12v toroidal transformer. It is new fitting I've had in it's box about 1 year, but only recently put up after building works finished. I changed the fitting to normal...

    sockets gone off

    sockets gone off

I am almost through on the cable route - what a fun way to spend Sunday!! Found one floor socket in conservatory that had water near it and moisture in the terminals - I was told we had had a down pour on Thursday so am thinking the conservatory roof might have leaked - once I have finished the...

    sockets gone off

Wanted to see if it was a ring and not 2 radial circuits - was that dumb?

    sockets gone off

Hi all thanks for input - have been reading up on multimeters this morning - so will now do the following: CU off - pull each socket and check behind then test for continuity - the ring that has gone down has 10 sockets in total and fortunately I know the beginning of the ring, so my theory...

    sockets gone off

I was away for the last 4 days - came home in middle of night to find system tripped. Nothing been done at all - unless the mice have moved in for winter!!

    sockets gone off

Circuit is not on RCD - there is nothing plugged in to the circuit - checked it 3 times; when I say a short time I really mean it delays by between 10 seconds and approx 30 seconds rather than flicking off immediately - also the MCB sparks when it trips - I tried the circuit in a different MCB...

    sockets gone off

Hi - hope you had a good break! I have ordered the 3-way mixer from Wita ( the manufacturers ) as I already have the original servo which apparently serves both the 3 and 4 way mixers. Once that arrives (from Germany) I will be altering the pipe-work to put the servo-mixer and UFH pump to serve...

    wiring for CH

o.k - I have contacted the manufacturer ( "Wita" ) to see if I can get a 3 -way body for the SM4 motor. They are in Germany, and I don't know of a supplier in this country! apparently the 4-way and 3-way are operated by the same SM4 motor, at least that is what the layout shows on the design...

    wiring for CH

D-Hailsham You have been really great trying to get your head round this. Thanks. Just one question now:- If all the controls as per the drawing were actually fitted, so the first floor would be the same as ground - ie; extra pump and mixer valve - does the wiring already shown on the...

    wiring for CH

Not sure what this means! are you saying it is flowing back to the UFH flow from the UFH return, and therefore the pipe stat tells the 2-port valve to close the flow to UFH? 'Cos the arrows imply it flows away from boiler flow to either return from UFH or back to return to the rest of the system...

    wiring for CH

Mattie Hi so I don't have to change it then? and it is all fitted correctly? There is a photo of the valve in my images showing the valve with middle port fitted to the pipework between the 2-port valve and the pump to the ground floor UFH.
