Shower keeps going hot and cold!

Mine did something similar. My understanding was the boiler heated an internal buffer tank, turned off, the shower cooled the buffer tank and then the boiler heated it again. I solved it by turning the boiler down as low as it goes, about thirty five, and just running the hot to the shower

How easy is it to tile a wall?

Surprisingly easy I did mine. Its pretty obvious if you get your level out that it wasnt done professionally. but it doesnt leap out in the shower. I used big tiles, about A4 sized, and laid them offset (like bricks).

    15mm into 22mm

For reasons beyond my understanding, the last two meters of my hot water feed to my shower are 22mm. Had I realised how short the change was I would have ripped it out and ran it all in 15mm If theres a reason for it to be 22mm, I dont know it, not that I know much

Lots of fencing, not a lot of money....

Keep in Chiuahuahs and Chickens, keep out the local teenagers. Stock fencing is a good idea actualy, there is quite a bit nearby, wont keep a fox out, but what will? DIY is an idea of course, but I was under the impression fencing was fairly difficult

Lots of fencing, not a lot of money....

In the not too distant future, I intend to buy a field behind my house. Fencing it off is going to require about 55 metres of fencing. The current fencing in the area is a wooden vertical support, three horizontal supports connecting the verticals and then an alternating inside/outside...

    Fruit trees

Very few apples are self polinating, and as far as I'm aware, even they arent much good., so you'd either need both to be apples, or none.

    Problem with cracking paint

Hi All A similar problem, Wall was wallpaper, that was steamered/scrapped off, its been left bare for, a couple of years. I painted, not expecting great results, and this has happened. I scraped the paint off, expecting to get off everything behind it that was causing the problem and...

    Number of downlighters recommended

BAS makes a very good point. Great Houses were ripped down and rebuilt every couple of generations in many cases. Or new wings were added, and old ones modified to fit the new fashion. The designers and builders had no expectations for their houses to remain forever unchanged. The...

A plea to all Electricty User's

I was told (could be rubbish) that there is a meter at the substation. So they know the total used by the mini grid you're on. They can then subtract any actual reads, and be left with an estimated total, which they can then divide between the unknown properties, based on historic...

RCD randomly tripping, replacing with RCBO's?

I thought that my one RCD will be tripping at a combined level of 30, somethings, but if I instead had four individual RCBOs, then each circuit can have 10 somethings and everything will run fine? Damn, I'd just assumed they made RCBOs in the form Id need, but a quick google hasnt found any...

RCD randomly tripping, replacing with RCBO's?

I've got an old cartridge type consumer unit and the built in RCD trips, fairly randomly. I think its something to do with moisture in the air, tends to happen during wet periods, but it happened during the dry cold period as well last winter. Anyway. Since I cant really afford to have the...

    Whats the price of land??

If your in the stockbroker belt, several grand, if your on a council estate in sctoland, few hundred quid. If it were me, and that was behind my house, I'd probably consider up to £1000, but maybe only £500. Doubt its ever going to get PP, you ****ed off the council to buy the land, and they...
