Cement falling into boarded storage loft

Thanks for replies. Yes it's an old unfelted roof. I think I will go with tacking light underfelt to the rafters.

Cement falling into boarded storage loft

When I first moved into my house, the loft had a lot of belongings left by the previous occupants that were filthy from a cement/dirt mix falling onto them from the roof tiles. So I knew that being able to stop these cement falls was important for making it a useful storage loft. I boarded out...

    Kitchen relocation idea

I should perhaps have mentioned that the current kitchen is an extension done by a previous owner. That means any knocking through the walls of the current kitchen to the current dining room is knocking through an original outer structural wall of the house - not sure whether that is prohibitive...

    Kitchen relocation idea

Thanks for the replies. I have uploaded some less lazy pictures that include the dimensions of the affected area, and have also included the lounge. The upstairs consists of 2 bedrooms and the bathroom. I checked my home insurance certificate, and it classes the house as 3 bedrooms. So the...

Also, width of dining room, study, and proposed kitchen diner should all be 2800mm on the diagrams.

    Kitchen relocation idea

I should have explained that what is currently left of the study is an under-stair cupboard which, it is felt, would make a good pantry. It's easily big enough to stand in. The very top left part is a lower cupboard, and the blue part is wall.

    Kitchen relocation idea

My house is classed as 3 rooms, having 2 bedrooms and a study. It's semi-detached and valued at £125,000 around 2008. The kitchen is dilapidated and needs replacing - whether that's to make a nice house to live in, or to get the house ready to sell. At 1.76 metres, the kitchen is rather...

How to design interior of alcove sliding door wardrobe?

Very useful to know, I always thought intermediate support would be inevitable but the option not to have it might help simplify the design...

How to design interior of alcove sliding door wardrobe?

Looks nice. What is the depth of that wardrobe? Compared to 874mm on my alcove space. 3 doors on that wardrobe?

How to design interior of alcove sliding door wardrobe?

The attached sketch illustrates the concept of this design. I'll need to work out just how big the 2 shelves above the clothes rail can manage to be; and the detail of what the back shelving will look like - i.e. how many layers, what heights they are at, and whereabouts vertical separators...

How to design interior of alcove sliding door wardrobe?

I hadn't even thought of the idea of different storage heights under a rail, it just goes to show there can be so many possibilities for a bespoke build in a decent size space.

How to design interior of alcove sliding door wardrobe?

This sounds a likely bet, the key advantage seems to be that it's maximising the storage space. Reaching through clothes won't be too hard as long as the clothes rail isn't so chocka you can't move them along - and if it is, just fold some of the clothes and put them on the shelves/cubby holes...

How to design interior of alcove sliding door wardrobe?

The 2 identical sliding doors are 765mm wide. We built a wood frame off each wall, about 2 inches thick on each wall, as the doors would have been a little small for the opening otherwise. Good point that anything smack bang behind the door overlap would be hard to reach and therefore likely a...

How to design interior of alcove sliding door wardrobe?

A shoe rack on the back of a door is something I hadn't thought of, so there's one good new idea for me right away.
