    Joint Connector?

lol - I know what you mean.. I have just found these - different (amusing) name - Sex bolts and Mating screws (aka known as barrel nuts and Chicago bolts) - these are imperial - but the fixings I have probably are too: http://www.boltdepot.com/Sex_bolts_and_Mating_screws.aspx These...

    Joint Connector?

Indeed - I am kicking myself as when one did go, they were still in business and got it replaced (still under warranty) - thinking that they were a common fixing, I didn't think of getting a world supply - DOH!

    Joint Connector?

Found this: http://www.fkmoore.com/zencart/documents/Catalogue.pdf check out p23 - similar/same things - interscrews, although the fact they are for brochures, catalogues, menus, swatches, I doubt they are very strong. On p12 there are machine screws that could be with the cup washers and...

    Joint Connector?

they must be something only available in Asia somewhere - the place I got the furniture from have it shipped over from Thailand - or somewhere similar. They have gone out of business now (probably the same place as the guy in the other post linked to above). I think a bit of thinking out...

Hi - Just looking at your post on the Brass Bolts from a couple of years ago. I have just posted pretty much the same thing on this forum. You don't happen to come from the Fareham area and got the furniture from a company called krakatoa? Did you manage to find a solution? Thanks Adam.

    Joint Connector?

Hi Guys, I am having real trouble trying to locate a place to get the type of bolts pictured (tried the usual B&Q, Wickes, Screwfix etc etc). I cannot even google them - probably calling them the wrong thing?. They are used on my teak garden chairs to allow them to collapse. Many of them...

Underfloor Electric Heating for Wooden Floors

So, taking it that any/most insulation for underfloor heating is going to basically be rubbish, what would you actually recommend for the heating itself? As I said in my orginal post, there seems to be quite a few different products out there, and I can't tell what is actually...

Underfloor Electric Heating for Wooden Floors

Is there any 'good' insulation boards out there, or do all send around half the energy into the concrete?

Underfloor Electric Heating for Wooden Floors

Hi All, I am looking to install electric heating under engineered wood floor in our study. As we already have a radiator in the room (about 9m2), this will be a secondary heat source to take the edge off the cold floor - it is on the ground (concreate) floor of a town house. Looking...

    Unsupported worktop?

Hi Opps You are correct, I didn't see your previous post - I wish I did as we obviously have come to the same conclusion :) The worktop is actually will have walls on all three sides, so the L section (or box section) could be installed into the wall at both ends, or mounted on supports...

    Unsupported worktop?

Hi - the reason why I am looking at metal/wood running the entire length is to avoid having legs completely as I do not want anything resting on my tiled floor. I suppose I could always use...

    Unsupported worktop?

that website also has steel (mild and stainless). I assume this would be stronger. The only reason I am querying this is that wouldn't the timber need to have a larger cross-section than steel for the same strength? The back and side walls would be right-angle steel/aluminium as from that...

    Unsupported worktop?

Instead of being at the front edge, could I put several - maybe 3 or 4 of these: http://www.metals4u.co.uk/products.asp?cat_id=14 and screw them across the complete length of the worktop - even maybe mount them into the wall at either end. Do you think this would be strong enough if...

    Unsupported worktop?

I thought about this also - either using a small metal 'girder' or wood. The question is how strong vs. the size of it. I think even with two support (so 1m between) would still need stripes underneath to help prevent bowing etc.
