Do youview boxes not have CEC built in? Genuine question as I haven't used one before..might be an option assuming the splitter passes it through to the youview box and the TV supports it

If you have cavity walls without insulation you could probably run the cables theough their into the loft

Is there's space you could get a sheet of hardboard, shiny side down (rougher side up), tilt the fridge back and slide the sheet in under the feet (getting the back ones on is sometimes tricky), once it's on you you should be able to pull the board from the front with it on top.

Ah ok, the power cabling that the extension could run parallel with terminates at a double power socket that I was hoping to use to power the router + phone and a powerline adaptor to get the router as part of a wired network. That might be an issue then I guess..
