    Why did I not die??

When working on circuit I’m even slightly dubious of I alway check voltage to earth between neutrals when disconnected to make sure it’s all dead. Had my first tingle in a few years last week when I pulled down a light fed from the house next door and that was after I ripped out the fuseboard...

    EICR situation

How far do we go with the regs aren't retrospective, I tested a lead cable the other day which showed no signs of degradation @1000v, if that was still in service supplying socket outlets I doubt it would be rcd protected so would that be a code 3 if it wasn't reasonably expected to supply...

Replacing element on oso 20 RD

I will drain down then, i tested the element yesterday and had 12 ohm, but i think the insulation is breaking down when it cone upto temp. There's a spare element & stat on the tank so i will swop them over. Will i have any problems when i come to fill back up ? Cheers Graeme

Safe? Mains to a CFL fitting and bulb

Hi it sounds like you have a class 2 light fitting which doesnt require an earth connection. There should be a symbol of a square within a square somewhere on the fitting to indicate this. You should terminate the earths together in a connector block but not connect them to the fitting, then...
