Worcester-Bosch Greenstar 24i Junior shows 0 bar when off

Just a quick status update - boiler has held steady at 1 bar when off and about 1.5 bar when running, just as GasMan1965 described. Seem gas4you's thought about the AAV is likely the cause. Perhaps the system was still full of air that bled itself out via the boiler over a week or two. I'm...

VALLIANT VS THE REST + DO I BUY THE BOILER MYSELF?

LOL! Possibly. To be honest, I know friends of mine who signed up for a BG service scheme and when push came to shove, the £30/month (or thereabouts) was for a plan which didn't cover the parts which were most likely to break! (Surprise, surprise...) Only time I used them was when they...

VALLIANT VS THE REST + DO I BUY THE BOILER MYSELF?

When I did my boiler last November, British Gas wanted to charge nearly £4,000 (inc. VAT) whereas all other local CORGI plumbers charged about half that. In the end, used a mate of a mate who'd just started out and wasn't VAT registered yet (that saved a decent chunk of money, but was just...

Worcester-Bosch Greenstar 24i Junior shows 0 bar when off

Yikes!! I'll put some more water in it right now then and see what happens. What would the effect be if the expansion vessel hose wasn't attached? It's strange, because we have no evidence of any leaks but clearly it's lost pressure somewhere... :?

Worcester-Bosch Greenstar 24i Junior shows 0 bar when off

Hi all, I have a Worcester-Bosch, about 3 months old. Something has been nagging me about it for a while, but I never got around to asking. When it is on and running, the system pressure needle is always bang on the 1 bar line, which is perfect. However, as the boiler cools after operation...

Immersion heater as a temporary fix?

I think there's something else. As I understand it, it's a really old design. It has some kind of diaphragm in it which is sucked to one side when a hot tap is opened and water starts to flow through the hot water system. So far as I can tell, this movement of the diaphragm by the water pressure...

Immersion heater as a temporary fix?

I agree it's not very safe. But then neither is carrying boiling pans of water up the stairs and there are no kids in the house. Tea urn is perhaps a better idea though. I might drop lucky on Freecycle... ;-)

Immersion heater as a temporary fix?

Hi, My wife and I are without hot water because our old gas combi boiler has given up the ghost at last... heating still works, thankfully! But no shower or bath because the hot water circuits are all furred up and the boiler parts are no longer available. :-( It occurred to me it might be...

Exterior painting mistake - can I just paint over??

Hi, We live in a wooden "weatherboard" cottage and we had some painters do the front of the house. For one reason or another (long story!) the colour is wrong. It's an off-white instead of the cream it's supposed to be! My question is this: Given the painters did a proper job (sanded...
