hi I am just writing up my specs for building regs and am trying to work out the best insulation to use. I will have 50 x 100mm roof rafters and I need as much head room in the roof as it is like a loft. Any ideas would be a great help. Cheers Guy

Just had a chat with BCO and he was very helpful. Said I would need a new application and would tell me everything that he needs to know once I send him the drawings. The insulation/heat loss/glazing will be the hardest to work out.

Had the plans already done. But the architect wanted £800 +vat for the regs on top of £500 for the regs plans and structural calcs. So I figured that I must be able to sit on the computer for a day on the approved regs site and find out everthing I need????

Thankfully I haven't paid him anything yet! Just waiting for his response as to why I am being charged so much for just the planning drawings and getting nothing else. Like you say, I won't be paying anything!

I have the drawings for planning, which are Ok ish. He wants the the whole estimate for just those, and not the whole job for the estimate price.

The trouble is that I haven't got any tech drawings or specs yet, but he still wants all the money for just the drawings for planning applications.

It gets worse when I think about it! The architect is just handing over the plans for me to submit and pay the fees which are not included in the price. I bet he drives a Porsche, the b#####d! I'm not a happy bunny.
