    Advice re signing off

Thankfully all resolved now. Builders got the electricians back round to do their final testing. A week or so later we received the EIC and then a few days after that we received the final completion certificate from building control. All's well that ends well. Thanks for all advice

    Advice re signing off

They're NAPIT - I think they're just being funny because they didn't get the whole job. Could be wrong though

    Advice re signing off

    Advice re signing off

We have recently had some extensive work done on our house consisting of a loft conversion and ground floor extension. Builders own electricians did the extension electrics, 1st fix, commission and 2nd fix. All that remains is for them to complete the sign off My own electrician [friend] did...

    Magnetic tubular latch

Thats right, the handle only retracts the bolt, and it then stays retracted within the latch. Then on closing the door, a magnet in the keep pulls the bolt across keeping the door shut

    Magnetic tubular latch

I had been looking at some LPD doors that had a particularly narrow stile, and they have their own narrow backset magnetic latches https://www.lpddoors.co.uk/ironmongery-manhattan-standard-magnetic-latch/ and thought they looked a bit fancy, but with a price to match. I just then looked to see...

    Door lining width

Ah ok thank you both. Good idea about the sacrificial lining I've got some 18mm osb knocking about that I could rip down to approximate a lining. I'll check if my local timber yard can rip the lining down as well, I know they have a big cross cut saw. Thankfully the plasterer that are using...

    Door lining width

We're at the stage on our loft that we need to start fitting the door linings before the plasterboard goes on. I had originally thought that the chippies were doing this as I was under the impression that this was a first fix item, but they treat it as second fix, and they are not doing any...

    Popping screw heads

I had a chat with the BI last week, he was very helpful, and he said we could use multifoil if we wanted.

    Popping screw heads

Recently had the shell completed on my loft conversion, and we are now at the stage of starting the insulation. BR under old rules said 100mm pir between studs and 25mm over the face (though we may use 50mm as per new regs). Builder has suggested that this way will definitely cause the screw...
