Tahnks for the reply. Its definately not the fan - my plumber friend got me a new fan, but when he came to fit out found that it didn't need replacing. Unfortunately at the time we couldn't replicate the noise! Now it seems to be doing it more than 70% of the time its turned on.

Hi, This boiler was installed in my home about 6 years ago, when the houses were new. Each time it comes on there is a distinct whistling noise coming from the boiler - it is similar to that of a car driving quite quick and the slightest opening in the window makes a high pitched noise...
