re-set or point any loose brickwork, wet the wall first.. use a mortar mix of 5 parts washed river sand to 1 part cement , add some render plasticiser/waterproofer and apply evenly to the whole wall at a depth of around 7-8mm (providing the wall is relatively flat) , dont be too fussed about...
right so it is better to batten the outer walls and dab internal walls? there is no damp issue.. jst want to be certain nothing can get through, pointing on outside is relatively new..
the house has no current damp problems.. however I want to take all measures to avoid rising damp and also water penetration.. I have seen a job in a similar house where boards have been adhered directly onto the stone and they are now all p**s wet through.
Dabbing onto brickwork in an 1870s house.. on the ground floor outer walls is it necessary to apply a waterproof scratchcoat on the bottom meter of the walls prior to boarding as a damp proof?
if you dab boards onto that artex wall your going to fetch it out past your skirting and youll need to bring out the front of your socket/switch.. also loose an inch off your room.. be better off skimming over it?
