    Finally you could fill the D holes either side of the Web with concrete... then it will never bend/deflect.!!!!

    Or do a few inches with a file... drive it in till it stops... file a bit more ... repeat all the way... but make sure that the bits going in are ok and the the only bits really binding are several inches apart... OR you will be getting your workout with the sledge hammer. .

    Ideally yes it should be welded at each end but. ... if you can get a strip (nice and thick ) and a little bigger than the inernal diameter and carefully grind it down with rounded edge to suit the internal diameter then drive it home with a sledge hammer that would work I'm sure.

    If your still looking for ideas... get a local welder to pop a bit of thick flat steel strip inside (tight fit) and run a few welds as far as possible up the tube. Postioned vertical this additional "web" would reduce deflection to almost zero... thicker the better...

    Hi any advice please.....? Regarding removal of wooden skirting board and replacing with plastic profile. (Plastered walls) Expansion? Do I need to worry much about this? Best adhesives and how much to use and how much clearance from floor...fine finishing mitre'ed corners with decorators...
