thanks for your reply dcdec. The paper was fitted by a professional decorator a couple of years ago and is absolutely solidly on with nothing peeling back. Also it has lining paper underneat it and both are wallpapers paintable.

i don't know why your answering in riddles hotrod, but i'm not playing any games and i honestly don't understand why if someone made a small hole in the side of a chimney breast (not the flue lining!) that would be a cause for concern...of course unless the flue lining was leaking, in which...

could you at least please tell me why :? ? Because i'm thinking that any fumes/heat should escape via the builder's opening and shouldn't be escaping into the breast - because if this was the case, then i'd be getting fumes into upstairs bedroom.

hi guys, i would like to feed some av cables hidden away inside a chimney breast in my living room. My chimney breast has been built only upto the height of the living room and DOES NOT extend into any rooms above. The ACTUAL chimney which is hidden within the chimney breast is much smaller...

:lol: On a more serious note...a lot of ppl advice against hanging a tv above a fire, but surely these tv's can easily handle temperatures of upto 40-50C? Also did the heat from the fire affect your tv?

hi everyone, previously i posted that i wanted some downlights in my fire surround, but i've ditched the idea as it's too risky and daunting. I've now hung up my tv on the chimney breast above the fire surround, shown below. The dilemma i have is that i want to hide the wires - 2 x hdmi, 1...

i think your right mate. It now sounding like more headache than worth it. Someone mentioned that i could have "rope lights", but i'm just a bit confused as to how i can add them to this fire surround.
