My suppliers have increased their prices between 10 and 20% since september. The storms we had last week can only make matters worse.

Anyone pricing up any jobs this year check the prices with your supplier first before giving any quotes based on what it was costing you last year. I am in the timber trade and prices have rocketed in the last few months so be prepared.

Most places round me are large concerns like B&Q etc who sell the full range of nicks and nacks. In that range there will be some products that are good for the money and some products that aren't. I don't want to sell my customers anything they don't need and I don't want to sell them...

Thanks for your reply m8. I am a bit confused as to the sizes of joist screw that decktite supply. They do an 80mm and a 144mm joist screw. See here. http://www.screwfix.com/app/sfd/cat/cat.jsp?cId=A431527&ts=60890 Personaly I think 80mm is to small for fixing 100mm x 47mm joists together...

To give you a guide price, I am a small timber merchant and my decking is £1.85 a meter (150 x 32mm) inc vat. Another thing you have to be aware of is the different qualities of decking so you really have to compare prices and have a look what quality they are offering for that price before...

Does anyone know if decking treated with a waxed coating will accept a stain??

I am about to buy a large quantity of Deck-Tite screws for resale to my customers but I am a bit concerned about the size of screw they are offering for fixing the joists together. They have a 6.5 x 80mm screw and the joists I have to fix together are 100 x 47mm so they would only go 33mm...
