I’ve got a Baxi 100 HE Plus that is intermittently locking out. When the reset is pressed the fan starts and I’ve proved there is flow from pump but it does not attempt to ignite and goes into lockout again. If I cycle the power it normally then starts ok. Any ideas ? Cheers

Hi, I was wandering if it would be ok to use MDF bullnose skirting ( 25mm thick) as the front/edge of a small step? Once stained and varnished would this material be up to the job ? I don't want to use MDF if people stepping on corner of step will trash it. Thanks in advance.

Yeah sorry long story - but started off by trying to balance rads. This was near impossible ( i think using laser thermometr on bare copper and painted pipes had big effect ) . when i thought i had got close i thought i would double check flow and return temps on boiler as i read all over that...

Eureka. - just painted a two inch length of pipe on the boiler flow and return. Straight away found that with the laser thermometer the difference between painted pipe and bare copper was more than 25oF. Not convinced with this type of measuring device , think I will invest in some clip on guages.

Is it best to have reall hot rads to get room to @ required temperature@ or is it more efficient to hav cooler rads doing things a bit slower ?

Is the surface temperature of a rad a good indication of the flow temp? or do the top of rads heat up and get hotter than the incoming flow ? is that even possible ? Cheers

Anyone able to tell me what is a realistic radiator surface temperature. There is a lot of talk about rads getting hot enough - but what is hot enough ? Cheers

Sorry it's a Baxi 100 he plus condenser. I have been playing around with the thermometer a bit and I am convinced the copper surface mucks up the readings too. The hottest spot on the closest rad ( which is painted white ) is up to 76c but the hottest reading the copper flow pipe reads is 32c...
