    Anyone made wooden garden planters

I made these for a customer out of decking boards and even put lights in them. they do have concrete blocks on the inside but you could use timber posts instead, just be sure to put DPM on the inside to protect the timber and make sure the bottom has a few rocks in to help with drainage.

    waterlogged garden, what now?

They need to be deeper not wider. A trial hole needs to be at least 1.2m up to 1.8m deep. Leave the excavated trial hole overnight, covering with a board or fencing-off to prevent accidents. 24 hours later, inspect the pit. If there is no water in the trial pit, then a soak-away is highly...

    Gravel grid or not?

I would go with the weed membrane, Then some type 1 and whack it down, not much as its not a drive. Then a thin layer of 6-15mm gravel and whack it into the type 1 (so if anything scuffs away the top layer the MOT is not exposed. Then a second deeper layer of gravel so its about...

    Fencing Question for Newbie!

some slotted posts have holes you can put m8 bolts through so drill through the panel beading and bolt them. Or screw through the beading until the screw tip hits the post and tightens the fit, do it at a upward angle and it stops people from easily sliding up the panels.

    waterlogged garden, what now?

Actually now i think about it.... The option above was for people who do not want to dig out and replace their garden and as you already have done the digging out half you POTENTIALLY (see bottom of post) have another option. As you are going to bring in new surface material to replace...

    waterlogged garden, what now?

Hi, The problem you have is one i see a lot on new build properties due to them leaving a lot of clay near the surface and essentially creating a false water table. I am experimenting with ways to solve it that do not involve excavating the surface of a garden and then bringing in new...

Digging up garden, what to do with the dirt?

Yea the price was way too high, assuming a 5m x 3m area and £30 per 450 x 450 slab to lay they are charging £150 per m2. WAY too high for a paving job involving budget slabs unless you live on the top floor of a skyscraper with a broken lift and a roof garden in need of a patio. So...

    another patio question!

I use jointex and it looks good, it comes in 3 colors. Follow the instructions ans remember to wet the slabs forst. I tend to use a stronger bedding mix than that as i do not want to have to return to a job if one of the mixes was not done well. No need for a plasticiser. This is the...
