    Hi Richard c i have found the problem, I hacked off the plaster and found that there was still some old plaster underneath and it was this that had blown thus making my new plaster no good ( i've looked at some before photo's and i found 1 more patch with the same problem) so it's my bad :oops...

    No there was no crazing throughout and i did use water as it was going off to smooth it out, :idea: As there are only two patches about 1m sq would you recommend striping it back and replastering it :?:

    Yes it's the wall to the adjoining house (Proper Brick)

    First i used pva then i used thistle bonding coat (purple bag) then multifinish (orange bag) :?

    yes and i keyed each coat, Also there is no central heating in the room so i dont think it has dried out to quickly

    Hi guys, I hope you can help me, I have just plastered my kitchen/Diner after striping it back to bare brickwork i have used multifinish plaster and have used pva before and after each coat but there are a couple of places that sound blown (hollow when you tap it) any advice is welcome. :roll:

    hi mikric, thanks for asking about building reg fellow, just to make sure we phoned him this morning and his reply was, go ahead, the beam was only supported by 4 inch, now going to be 14 inch , with rebar and concrete centre, so once again thanks for concern. jim

    hi MIKRIC sorry I wasnt too clear there, there are 6 joist on that beam, b4 we put akros to support .the beam was only on 4 inch brickwork, that was seperating kitchen from back room, hope this makes sense to you, thank you for your reply. ps the bricks are a solid red stock.

    hi, can anyone answer this for me, I am getting many different answers, can I use reclaimed bricks from a non supporting wall to build a pier, the pier is to be 14x14 x8foot, to support a10 inch beam holding bathroom joist, that is all it will support. cheers
