It needs to be for a purpose incidental to the enjoyment of the house. It is debatable what this includes but most of the councils I work with specifically state that sleeping accommodation in outbuildings is not PD. I haven't tried an appeal but Im sure there is one out there somewhere.

You will need planning permission and building regs approval to convert a detached garage into a bedroom. I don't know your local planning policies or where the garage is on your plot but round my way this would be unlikely to be approved. You can normally convert to a home office, gym, garden...
Its fixed. As Bernard thought, I mistakenly spurred off the light switch cable instead of the lighting circuit as it tested live when the light was off. Strangely it still charged my shaver with no neutral but all sorted now. Many thanks.
Hello
I have added a shaver point in a shower room. I connected it to the lighting circuit over the shower room. Everything works but when the shaver point is in use one or two of the shower room LED downlighters randomly glow. The whole house has LED lamps but this only happens to the bathroom...
I understand but I think this is more than dusty. Sweep 1sqm of floor with a stiff broom and I have a small pile of yellow sand. I don’t think it’s bound together properly
Hello
Ive got a concrete floor in the garage and its always very dusty. Its basically solid but when I sweep it I get a small pile of soft sand. I assume it wasn't mixed correctly when it went down.
Any tips on how best to deal with this. I think its too dusty for floor paint.
Thanks
New slab is standard 100mm concrete on hardcore. Screed does have insulation around he perimeter but only on the external walls, not between new and old floors. The builder has cast the new slab up to the old wall that has been removed, not over it. Only screed over the old wall.
Not sure how...
Hello Bobsad
An external wall was knocked down between the new and old floors. The new screed now continues over where the old wall was. Solid concrete floors to old and new.
thanks
Hello
I am getting a floor tiled in my house. It’s 900x900x10 porcelain on a solid concrete floor. It is a big floor at 8m x 7m. 3/4 of it is a new extension with wet UFH. The other 1/4 is the old house with electric mat UFH.
I am a bit concerned about expansion and possibly slight movement...
That will be fine. You could support it with chicken wire or even garden wire zig zagging between the joists fixed with screws. Make sure it’s a snug fit but not squashed up.
Definitely needs planning permission.
Quite likely that you will need to demolish and rebuild the garage too as they often have thin walls and inadequate foundations. You will need to dig some trial holes to check foundations.
Each council has their own planning permission guidelines on what...
