Hot water: TOO HOT. Cold water: only from taps

Thank you all. Someone mentioned the immersion heater is only used as a backup or during the summer. Why would I switch from gas to electric during summer? Isn't it better to use always the gas boiler whether I also use the radiators or not?

Hot water: TOO HOT. Cold water: only from taps

Ok Thanks very much. You saved me £7.00 from the wrong thermostat I was going to buy, plus £100s from the plumber I would have called after seeing it did not fix the problem, plus ££££s on electricity bills since, once fixed, I would probably had switched it on 24hours again. I will...

Hot water: TOO HOT. Cold water: only from taps

The thermostat is just that small white box attached to the cylinder, yes?. That is where I adjust the temperature and can be removed easily. It is just being held there by the white string around the cylinder. I found a new one on ebay for £7.00. Just need to open it and reconnect the cables on...

Hot water: TOO HOT. Cold water: only from taps

Hi Tony. I am really sorry you got wrong the tone of my reply. I am not dismissing your suggestion at all. Just did not understand what you meant and asked why you thought there was a problem with something not heating something else when my problem was there is too much heating :) , as that...

Here is one: You can see the tank, the themorstat, the three way valve and a pump. Also the switch I have now turned off. The red handle between the pump and the 3-way valve, can you guess what it is for?. Not sure if I messed with it and if it should be closed or open.[/img]

Hot water: TOO HOT. Cold water: only from taps

Well, maybe I exaggerated the 200 degrees thing, but if I left the water from the shower running, in a few minutes there is fog all over the house and you can barely touch the water. As i said, it is all ok now I switched the electric heater off. Problem is, I don't understand how the system...

Hot water: TOO HOT. Cold water: only from taps

:) They are not too bad What I thought is: The gas boiler heats up the water and sends it to the immersion tank in the bathroom, which maintains the temperature at 50 or 60 or whatever you set on the thermostat. Something is wrong there because if I switch this electric thing on, water is at...

Hot water: TOO HOT. Cold water: only from taps

Hello Agile The electric heater with the inmersion element is always on, but I believe the thermostat should switch it off when the water reaches certain temperature. I have been living here for over a year and never switched it off. Maybe I should when I go on holidays, but still, the...

Hot water: TOO HOT. Cold water: only from taps

Hello everyone. My first post here. A week ago I came back from holidays and found the following situation: Hot water was extremely hot, while there was no cold water from the two showers (also really hot) but it was fine from the kitchen and bathroom taps. :? Also, the loft was...
