    Thanks for the replies everyone.. Hi fireman Nails are 16mm. But they go through the gripper first which would be about 7mm thick? So around 9mm would have gone into the floor if that makes sense. hi gas112 Excuse my ignorance but what is BS6891?

    Hessian backed carpets aren't all that common these days. Manufacturers use cheaper materials.. It doesn't sound woven from your description. If you can upload a photo I'll let you know. Action backed carpets are used a lot these days..
