    Motorised Valve Problem

Thanks for that. I did hold it in the little notch until it stayed there but still it returns to the auto position later on. The motor seems to kick in to close the valve, but not to open it. As I moved it to open manually it did seem a bit stiff.

Putting a coin in the slot is alot easier than removing the motor, that's why !

    Motorised Valve Problem

I have a problem with my central heating not working, due to a faulty motorised valve (I think). When I slide the lever on the valve to the Open/Manual position my radiators heat up nicely. Trouble is, after a while the little lever slips out of open position back to "auto" and they cool down...

One hot radiator, all others lukewarm or cold

Turns out it's the motorised valve not functioning correctly.

Radiators warm up for 20 minutes, then cool down

Ha! Turns out it was the little gizmo that diverts the hot water to the taps and/or the central heating. Fortunately it has a manual override so before it's replaced properly my house is toasty again :)

Radiators warm up for 20 minutes, then cool down

There's no air in the rads, and I don't know what a thermocouple is. The boiler is a Baxi Bermuda, and it seems to be firing fine - there is plenty of hot water.

One hot radiator, all others lukewarm or cold

... oh, and I don't have a room thermostat, so it can't be this forcing the radiators to cool down.

Radiators warm up for 20 minutes, then cool down

There IS no room thermostat. There is only a dial on the boiler, and the pump, both of which I have set to MAX, but to no avail.

Radiators warm up for 20 minutes, then cool down

Starting from cold (in the morning), my radiators get warmer and warmer until almost hot, then after 20 minutes or so get cooler and cooler, not to warm up again until the next time it all starts from cold. Anyone any idea where the problem might lie ?

One hot radiator, all others lukewarm or cold

Another thing I noticed: Starting from cold (in the morning), the radiators get warmer and warmer until almost hot, then after 20 minutes or so get cooler and cooler, never to warm up again until the next time it starts from cold. The pump seems to be vibrating and humming quite nicely, but...

One hot radiator, all others lukewarm or cold

I'll try that - thanks. But why would it change so suddenly ? A week ago all radiators were hot.

One hot radiator, all others lukewarm or cold

My gas boiler is downstairs. The hot water tank and pump is upstairs. The radiator in the bathroom is very hot (though this is not the one closest to the pump). All other radiators (upstairs and downstairs) are lukewarm or cold (warmer at the top than the bottom, I've noticed). Hot water is...
