    i was not going to list everything but timber does both shrink and expand causing movement. you leave a expansion gap on flooring for instance for swelling not shrinkage

    by using seasoned timber you get less swelling and movement, surley you teacher should of told you this.

    i know these screws i have used them over here. they don t usually come loose but in a collated strip for a screw gun maybe look under collated screws. i know where to get them locally to me but not nationally.maybe screwfix direct

    Quality Screws

    the twin thread spax are a bit more expensive but your bit holds better, also i find they go in easier with less strain on your drill.you don't have to pilot hole for these as much either. best thing is to try a few and find what you prefer for your tools and applications.

    a gap filling adhesive like the green one mentioned would be a stronger fix but if your thinking of removing the board , a silicone would be easier to remove with no damage.

    yes the mason mitre helps join moulded sheets , if its square edges then you can scribe one piece to the other and just use the bolting section of the jig for underneath :?:

    this can be done as long as you stick to the boiler recomendations for ventilation,also leave enough room for serving.
