New Boiler dilemma - feedback appreciated

eek, that's a new one on me. I've lived with or had Japanese female visitors stay with me, the Japanese being regarded as one of the cleanest nationalities on earth, and in their case, they both bathed like whales and were total bathroom hoggers. From my youth hostel experiences of...

New Boiler dilemma - feedback appreciated

Thanks. 4 well-groomed ladies, two of which are away from the property around half the time. Looks like 200 litre plus for a storage system or beefy combi where we simply have to be a bit courteous about not whacking on taps when people are showering.

New Boiler dilemma - feedback appreciated

Thanks, I queried this with the plumber who admitted he'd misread my email and thought there was a single bathroom. He's visiting to revise his quote tonight. Might ask him to price Megaflow option. So I've got the usual dilemma for a 3 bed/2 bath/11 radiator house between - a powerful...

cost of having a combi boiler fitted.

After many calls and emails, I hold just 2 written quotes and just have the basic standard desire to have 3 decent ones to compare and review. Far from being a timewaster, I've got the money in the bank and am motivated to convert it into real work due to the fact my house is freezing and...

cost of having a combi boiler fitted.

All of my story is correct. I was roundly ignored by local plumbers and a promise to send through a written quote did not materialise. I do have 2 written quotes (just not from those in my immediate area). The only guys that came out to view the property (apart from the emergency plumber...

New Boiler dilemma - feedback appreciated

By quite a bit higher, are you referring to the Megaflow installation by your mention of an unvented cylinder? Or the combi/telford combination. And by quite a bit higher, if you are referring to a megaflow, would I be looking at closer to 3k rather than 2.2k, for instance? think 'London'...

cost of having a combi boiler fitted.

Can't be too competitive in south London - all four local engineers on the Gas Safety register that I left messages for enquiring about a quote to install a boiler never returned my call, a 5th gave a verbal quote but didn't follow it up in writing as promised.

Also, one engineer has asked me to specify the type of boiler, model, K.W and hot water flow rate I require but most of this is a foreign language to me. Combis have been suggested by others, models championed include Worcester/Bosch and Viessmann but KW and hot water flow rate is a foreign...

New Boiler dilemma - feedback appreciated

3 bed, 2 reception room, 2 bathroom, 2 storey house with 11 radiators is looking for a new boiler. Three suggestions have been made to date by heating engineers 1 - Worcester Bosch Greenstar 25Si Combi (2.2k to install) From reviews, it says its suitable for small or medium properties...

Theft of Gas Safety registration info?

Is the appropriation of genuine Gas Safety registration by others posing as being accredited particularly common? Like many people looking for someone to install a new boiler, I am specifically targetting Gas Safety registered plumbers. When I contacted one advertiser for a quote and asked...

    New boiler: Viessmann?

Have they ironed out the earlier model Viessmann's teething problems that I've read about? One of my favourite quotes to replace my clapped out Ideal Response 120 for a large 3 bed/2 bath house with 11 radiators involves a Viessmann combi with a telford 180 litre cylinder. I know plumbers...

Ideal Response 120 - big bang and fan full of water

Oh right, must have misunderstood - that quote hasn't come through and if I remember rightly for a change, I think the plumber was going to offer two quotes, one for a combi and one for a megaflow but they've not come through yet. Think I conflated them in my earlier post.

Ideal Response 120 - big bang and fan full of water

That quote hasn't come through but I've had another one for 2.2k for a veissmann combi boiler with a Telford 180 litre cylinder which I've been advised is a cheap and reliable alternative to megaflow. Again advised that there is no problem with water pressure issues and but unlike the previous...

Ideal Response 120 - big bang and fan full of water

But all plumbers to date have said it is a rare and special part that will cost very many hundreds of pounds to buy and fit... Boiler was probably fitted in 2001, shame it never saw the decade out.

ideal response 100 loud bang when igniting

Had the same problem with the Ideal Response 120 in the summer - very explosive ignition (loud crack/pop noise). got it serviced - the engineer showed me some gubbins (sorry not very technical I know) that were extremely filthy and meant it was difficult to spark. he was surprised when I told...
