    Insulating subfloor

I am assuming that the foam around every edge of the PIR is a lot more air tight than friction fit?

    Insulating subfloor

I was going to make a gap just wide enough for my expanding foam tube. Saves wasting foam, I was going to baton just bigger than the gap using offcuts from the old floor..

    Insulating subfloor

So regardless of how the board is supported. What is the consensus undercut and foam or friction fit?

    Boiler not turning off.

Hi there, I had a similar issue with the actuator valve sticking. I never solved this until I replaced the heating system and had new valves. When the new boiler was installed I noticed it didn't switch off the I broke the rule and RTFM and found out the new boiler runs for 15 mins after...

    Insulating subfloor

I know this subject has been done to death but I am still no cleared on the pro's and cons of fitting celotex between floor joists. There seems to be 2 method: 1. Friction fit in between the joists but it is not clear if this is airtight or not. If it isn't it negates the insulation...

    Drayton Actuators keep failing

mmm, checked last night (by this point it was working again) Took actuator off, checked valve which can be turned by hand. Opened the actuator and nothing looks out of place, although I can't actually see where the microswtich is. I would rather something not work permanently rather...

    Drayton Actuators keep failing

Thanks for this guys. Will go home later and check the travel of the value and open the actuator and see if anything looks out of the ordinary. I presume the microswitch is not welded shut as it is an intermittant problem that usually resets itself. Ross

    Drayton Actuators keep failing

How can the micro switch fail so often, would have through you would have a fixed switch attached to the motorised arm which disconnects then in the off position? how can the switch create a circuit when the arm is back?

    Drayton Actuators keep failing

I bought my house about 18 months ago and discovered, after a few months, that my boiler was not switching off after the timer had gone off. After a bit of trial and error and tracing the electic through the circuit I found that when the timer had switched off and the actuator moved into the...
