    OK chapi now i get it. Many moons ago i remember going with my dad to a local builders yard to get some "mortar",which was a sand and lime mix. He then added cement to it. this is why i was confused. So 4 sand to 1 cement ? any admix ?

    As i said, the house is only 20 years old,built with sand and cement,(not mortar). So it needs to be pointed with a sand and cement mix.

    Got to agree with you Chapi,the guys ive asked about it,all seem to POINT me to somebody else :lol: I might give it a go myself,I have an easy fix scaffold and lots of time to spare these days. What mix do you think, 2-1 ? or is that a bit strong ?

    I was told that if hardboard was fitted to a stud partition before the plasterboard, it makes for very good sound insulation. anybody else heard of this ?
