Help - toilet seat loose but fixing threaded

Thanks JohnD - I've no idea but I'll have a look and see if I can get the opposite, good shout. I tried a Torx as I had one to hand but that didn't work. The other side was an Allan key which worked fine, not sure how this one got damaged. Thank you

Help - toilet seat loose but fixing threaded

Thank you all for your replies! Madrab that's exactly it - the allan key won't grip as the internal hex (I'm learning) of the grub screw is rounded out. I think I used the wrong phrase! Dilalio/Undertrained because I can't take off the top bit, I can't prise up the hub cap. Do I somehow have...

Help - toilet seat loose but fixing threaded

Thanks - it probably does, but I can't remove the hinge to get at the cover underneath because that allan key bolt appears to be threaded. Any ideas how I can undo a threaded bolt?

Help - toilet seat loose but fixing threaded

Hi, our toilet seat completely came off its hinges - I've managed to get it back on, but the fixing on one side is very loose and shifts around from side to side so it will happen again. It's one of those ones where a nut and bolt go through to underneath - however part of that fixing is...

    Gap in pvc window frame

Could anyone advise me on how easy/hard it is to replace the latch locking mechanism please? The bolt still moves up and down at the top but the latch on the side doesn't move. Thanks

    Gap in pvc window frame

Hi, we removed the lock which does close when it's out but it's stiff. The problem is that the locking mechanism on the outside of the window doesn't move at all with the handle. We looked but couldn't see an easy way of removing it, it's partly covered by plastic. Is it still possible for us...

    Gap in pvc window frame

Hi ronniecabers, Thanks so much for replying-it is indeed the lock side, and no the lock doesn't work when it's open so looks like it's that. Glad I checked! Is that something we could replace ourselves or is it too complicated? Thanks

    Gap in pvc window frame

Hi, The pvc window in our bathroom has a draft comibg through as it no longer fits snugly. Looking back on here it sounds like we need to replace the hinges, but I just wanted to check first! The handle has never really properly closed either, the photo shows as far as it goes. Any advice...

    Curved bath panel replacement problems

Hi foxhole, we've cut the length to size but not the height as we thought it would go under, plus it's curved round so can't slice it off. It's only the last 1.5ft towards left of bath but we're a bit stuck.

    Curved bath panel replacement problems

Thanks foxhole-it's taller than the previous panel though by about 1cm, would that still work?

    Curved bath panel replacement problems

Hi, We've a bit of a problem with a replacement curved bath panel. If anyone could help before we have to cough up money for another that would be great. The old panel was very badly cracked and yellowed, and after a long time deliberating on whether a new one was worth it we bought it...

    Mira sport shower not working

Thanks everyone, we were all set to buy a new shower but checked the isolation switch and it only had 40w coming out of it! (Despite dh swearing blind there was nothing wrong with it...) so all repaired and saved ourselves £300+! And no more queuing up for the shower in the morning... Many...
