Cast iron soil pipe - socket size?

Sorry for late reply. I am liking the sound of the Denso tape. However, I ought to say that I think the leak is not actually coming from the cast iron joint. I think it is the next joint along between the rubber lip and the yellowing pipe. Does denso tape work on anything?

Cast iron soil pipe - socket size?

I have a leak from the waste pipe contraption at the back of my toilet so I was thinking of replacing it all with just a McAlpine flexible pan connector WC-F23R. I believe that the fins on the end of the connector are designed to fit in a 110mm socket. From the photo, the cast iron socket on the...

    Clunk and scraping noise

I thought I should post to complete the thread. The clunk and scraping noises were caused by kettling. The flow switch was faulty and caused the kettling. No fan replacement was required.

    Clunk and scraping noise

I could certainly imagine the fan being responsible for the noise...but I am surprised that it would run quietly all day and just make this noise only once or twice a day.

    Clunk and scraping noise

Easyflow I am going to respond further to you in the hope that you are more kind than onecog, who finds it difficult to tolerate my lack of intelligence. When you wrote fan/impeller, it seemed to me like you were saying that they were the same thing. So I was reading it as "Sounds like...

    Clunk and scraping noise

I have a Glowworm Swiftflow 100 combi boiler. It makes a loud clunk and scraping noise, on average about once or twice a day. I have uploaded it to YouTube. The sound I am talking about starts about 20s into the recording, but I have left the preceeding boiler noises in the recording to help...

Pilot light went out but has reluctantly relit.

Thank you everyone for your contributions. I think I will have the boiler serviced and have the thermocouple changed while my engineer is here. It's a cheap precautionary repair. Thanks again

I do get the boiler serviced every once in a while but I don't think the guy takes the fan out.

OK, so let's say that the thermocouple behaved normally when we came to relight it, what do you think could have caused the pilot light to go out? It was working this morning and then it had gone out an hour later. During that time we did not notice any power cuts. Thanks PS. It's not...

Yes, the fan appears to be running at half speed when the boiler is at rest.

We have a Glowworm Swiftflow 100 combi boiler. Today we discovered that we had no hot water and then found that the boiler pilot light had gone out. We went through the lighting procedure. In order to light the pilot light you need to hold in the gas control knob, press the piezo to light...

    Steam iron anti-scale systems

I don't need to fix anything; I was just wondering how anti-scale systems work on steam irons. There appear to be two types. The first is irons with replaceable anti-scale cartridges - What's in the cartridges? Is it some kind of water softener or is it acid for reacting with the limescale...
