    RCD and electrical regulations.

What he seemed to object to was that we were unable to mount an electric socket on the walls of the greenhouse being polycarbonate sheets contained within aluminium framing. It's not really practical hence the idea of using an extension cable plugged into a nearby garage socket. But the point is...

    RCD and electrical regulations.

We recently installed a greenhouse, and in order to warm it during frosty spells we were looking to buy some sort of electric heater. There is no electric socket in the greenhouse, but we had the idea of running an extension cable from a neighbouring underground garage socket (at least 10 m...

Why would I? That's the port wiring, not the thermo's, and it's already wired in. Really? And you're telling me you hold certificates in this. Grey is connected to live at the junction box, ie it's live all the time. Brown is supposed to be a switched live, when the thermo makes it so, so why...

I thought so too. Thanks for explaining the T2 to U connection. The only person out of anyone else who actually seems to understand what they are talking about and answered my questions. You deserve a beer for that. That wraps it all up for me now. But perhaps you can see why I was confused by...

[/url] Yes, I appreciate that. It also happens to switch the boiler and pump on and off, which is the point of why the port is connected electrically to them. You mentioned in your previous post about the heater element, which is a completely separate circuit., and nothing to do with the thermo...

thanks for the advice. but the problem is an electrical one, not a plumbing one. I'm aware of pressure problems, but there is a pressure gauge installed to warn me if any excess pressure should ever arise. I've had the central heating running when the cistern was installed, and that part worked...

That was before another poster took the trouble to explain the pamphlet photo. Since all you seem to enjoy doing is to be sarcastic, and negative and attempt to confuse things further, I have one solution for you. P*** off!

Not me that's confused. Contact 2 on Limiter is break on overheat, ie if temp rises above permissible limit. Contact 2 on adjustable is break when required temp is reached. That's the whole purpose of having a duostat.

Yes, I'd agree on that. I'm still totally baffled why T2 in the Adjustor box in the pamphlet is shown connected to 'U', then neutral, whereas the wiring diagram shows no connection to T2, period. Anyway thanks for your help. I've contacted the makers of the cylinder, and they advised me to stick...

The pamphlet first seemed to me to show a neutral connection to the HWC, and a live feed to the contact in the limiter box, which cannot be right, and is at odds with their web wiring diagram. But now you've explained what the 'U' means, this makes better sense. Except in the pamphlet...

No he didn't. When I booked him I was lied to when I asked about this. He promised to turn up with the certs on the morning of the job, then arrived without them, but assured me he had done many unvented cylinder installations before. As he turned up with all his tools and seemed confident I...

I recently bought and had installed an Stelflow unvented hot water cylinder, but the guy who installed it cocked-up the electrical connections to the thermostat causing a short circuit.. I don't want to use him again as I don't feel he knows what he's doing when it comes to dealing with...

    Plumbing Electrics

I appreciate that, but did you not have a look at the official wiring diagram, rather than the pamphlet one. It's that one which makes sense and shows no connections to neutral or earth regarding the HWC thermo. 1, 2 an3 are encircled underneath all terminal points where connections are to be...
