Thanks for your comments everyone.
Unfortunately not. The unit is in the centre of an old mill. The cafe whose pipework our waste joins also lacks an exterior wall, so at the moment we don't even know where the stack is! Drilling a new hole would shorten the run but not solve the problem...
Hi - my wife has got herself an empty retail unit for her cake business and is expecting me to fit the kitchen for her. The previous tenants had a high-level sink, because the waste pipe leaves the unit about a metre up the back wall, but she wants her kitchen at normal height. One option is to...
Hi - I'm tiling a shower with pebbles on the floor and 200x400 wall tiles and was wondering which should I do first - ie, which goes under/inside the other?
If I put the floor pebbles down first it'll reduce the need to cut the pebbles and give a cleaner edge, but I'll probably need to...
Thanks again - as it happens that was the stuff I was going to buy, so I appreciate the advice.
Part of my problem is that it's not me doing the tiling (too big a room and large tiles - I've only done bathrooms before) and I rang the tiler today and he's happy with 18mm chipboard and 12 mm...
Thanks Jason, although I'm really trying to find a way to avoid noggins - if that's the only way then I'll get someone in. Would fitting 2 layers of 12mm ply at 90 degrees achieve a similar effect?
On the insulation, it's not so much heat loss I'm worried about, it's warm-up time - the...
Hi - I've read lots of advice here and elsewhere on tiling onto timber floors, including gcol's detailed FAQ here, but haven't seen this question answered before.
I have a new kitchen coming and I want to tile the floor. It used to be a lounge and the plumbing work has pretty much wrecked...
Hi
Thanks for your help. It's fixed now - a problem with the diverter valve. It was sticking for some reason, causing the boiler to think the pressure was wrong. Can't quite work it out, because the boiler is only supposed to switch the valve over when there's a demand from the other side -...
Hi
Yes - the boiler works perfectly up until the point the demand is satisfied, whether DHW or CH. If CH, it works until the pump overrun is complete. Two seconds later the pump/pressure LED starts to flash and that's that. A reset gets us going again (but only if there's a demand -...
Thanks for this. There's a diverter valve and microswitch, and a flow switch, but the boiler has no problems swicthing between DHW and CH while either the burner or the pump is on. I'll check the switches though (as soon as I've had breakfast!).
Cheers
Mac
Hi - this has baffled me and the heating engineer I've called in to look at it. My Baxi 105e has been reporting a fault, the LED indicating it's with the pump or low pressure. However, a quick reset at the mains and all is well again. If there's either a DHW or CH demand, the boiler fires up...
