cheers neo, i thought a faulty thrust bearing would make a noise when the car is standstill as well though? at the moment it's only making a noise when making gearchanges (when clutch is fully depressed) or if I coast on the clutch - i don't do that though! cheers Matt

Hi all, We have a 99V Polo 1.4 CL and have recently noticed a grinding noise coming from the gearbox (or clutch?) when depressing the clutch. initially I thought it might be the thrust bearing but it only does it when the car is moving. I had a thrust bearing go before on a previous car...
