You could ask the local arceological society if they have geophis equipment and then do a search for the pipe outside the conservatory, dig down and put in a new fitting. Save digging up the conservatory. Best of luck.

Just out of interest, why do water pipes need to be earthed? Do they somehow generate an electrical current or is it in case a faulty electrical cable comes into contact? Just wondered that's all.

I WANT A COUPLE OF FLURESCENT LIGHTS IN MY LOFT LINKED TO A TIMER. I HAVE NO POWER IN THE LOFT SO COULD I WIRE A SMALL EXTENSION LEAD FROM THE LIGHTING CIRCUIT TO A PLUG SOCKET SO THAT I COULD THEN PLUG THE LIGHTS INTO A PLUG IN TIMER SWITCH?
