Thanks Nickjb.
I'm not sure if he bonded the original screed.
Neil was wondering about some kind of mastic seal but we (I!) haven't been able to find anything that looks suitable. What would you suggest by way of rubber seal?
Cheers
Richard
Thanks
There is a DPM so the water has not risen through the base. It was screeded because when the stupid arse laid what should have been the finished level there was a torrential cloudburst and the finished surfcae was not level when it went off. The SBR is to ensure that the screed...
Brother-in-law has had to remove the screed from the garage that he built for me because it has delaminated/blown. He thinks that this happened because water crept under the screed at the garage door, i.e. where the edge of the screed is exposed to the elements. He is applying SBR between...
Sorry for the slow reply - I was told that family stuff (wife's not mine!) came first.
I've connected the neons across L1 and L2 and they both illuminate when the lamps are off irrespective of the switch positions. This is as predicated.
Thanks to all who pondered on this question...
It's funny how one composes a question and then strips out the bits considered to be superfluous 'fluff' and someone identifies a bit of relevant detail that has been discarded as 'fluff'. In this case the switches are at either end of the carport and are fully illuminated when the lamps are...
Hi John
Neons always on would be acceptable but the best outcome is neons only on when the lights are off.
Sorry if I was being unhelpful by trying to be helpful IYSWIM :-)

Me too after that description!
Referring to Fig 2 in this link: http://www.lightwiring.co.uk/tag/2-way-lighting-circuit-diagram/ and calling the switch to the left A and that to right B and where the light is off:
A com = Live (permanent)
A2 = Live
A1 = nothing
B com =...
Indeed I agree with you John but thought that it would be helpful to those who insist that it will work if I could say that I had tried it without success :-)
Access to the carport wiring is easy and unexpected events will not compromise the rest of the houses lighting so I don't mind...
Thanks All, I'll have a play with relocating the neon connections.
I appreciate that the wiring method is 'old fashioned' for the reasons mentioned in the link that I posted but am happy to use it as the installation is only my carport lights, i.e. there is a single live + neutral source...
