Sorry for jumping in on an old thread...
I've just spent a couple of hours working free a backnut from a kitchen tap using Rothenberger tap spanners, 10" locking pliers, loads of WD40, and a lot of force. It was painful enough that I decided to replace the screw thread of the new tap fixing kit...
I've decided to brace my roof before raising the boards on plastic legs in the central area and adding top-up insulation throughout. It came up in the survey (I'm aware of the justified criticism) and it's not something I want to remedy before selling and I hope it's 'best practice'. Anyway, I...
I spent a while searching for 50mm to 68mm reducers and came across similar discussions on why they aren't available. I'd prefer to use 50mm so that I can match the existing down pipes and fascias in white.
I've marked up the original photo with what I plan to do...

Thanks for all the help, it's much appreciated.
The gully below the kitchen window was partially blocked with mortar. I vacuumed it out, cleared out the mortar with a few light taps of a chisel and then removed a mini fat-berg from the p-trap. After a good clean it looks in good condition and...
Drain is about 1m from the hopper, I'll post a pic tomorrow.
The bathroom pipe runs about 1m away from the wall into an angle then runs about 2m directly into the drain and isn't properly sealed (risk of rats). That pipe could freeze causing water to back up which would then block the...
Many thanks for the detail Rob.
I'll do as you suggest and run 50mm up from the drain and tee off, once for the bathroom and then for the kitchen.
I might leave the two vertical pipes from the bathroom because I'm concerned about disrupting the internal joints which are hidden behind a tiled...
Hi,
I could do with some help planning the waste runs into a hopper, see pic. I removed some rotten decking last year to find the bathroom waste is run directly into a outside drain (no external trap), which I obviously need to fix.
In the pic there are 2 wastes from an upstairs bathroom...
Really helpful, thanks. I'll try nicking the cord method first and fit as one piece because it should help to prevent gaps in the corners. Would you put the join in one of the top corners or middle of the top section? It's pretty deep wedge, 5mm so I may end up having to mitre the corners but...
Thanks, it's good to know it won't damage the DGU and mist up all the windows.
I'll post some pics tomorrow (need some light and warmth in there). Basically, if you take out the wedge gasket and put it back in it pushes the edge of the ali tape towards the edge of the DGU.
First post! I've searched the forum but not found a similar problem.
I'm replacing internal wedge gasket that has shrunk in a conservatory (big temperature differences I guess). When I insert the new gasket it crushes the edge of the aluminium foil tape around the DGU. The new gasket isn't...
