Thanks for the replies, ok to answer some of the question there is a bottle air vent on the flow in at the cylinder, It's not a wiring issue as there is a delay before the boiler fires up after being switched on at the programmer.

Yes its a sealed system, there's only one tank in the attic that feeds the cold water to the cylinder/shower etc.
The boiler is a Ferolli optimax HE31S ( System Boiler )

I will contact my plumber and get this looked at and query why i didnt get a cylinder stat originally.
For now though if i connect the wireless programmable stat to the boiler ill still be able to control the central heating with the plumbing configuration...
If i install a cylinder stat do i have to run the wiring from that stat down to my boiler/programmer in the kitchen ?
Where would the new valve go, above the boiler like the other one ?.

if i can remeber correctly its the second one of the pictures, it comes off my boiler and goes straight up, i control the temperature of the water via the boiler central heating temperature, i have no cylinder thermostat

you said to wire the new programmable room stat in between the original programmer and the motorised valve, so that when the thermostat calls for heat it opens the valve for the central heating, is that correct ?
