    Auto locking Wink Haus mechanism

A friend lives in a communional flat. When he leaves his flat, he needs to lift the door handle and use a key to lock the door. He would rather that it locked when he closes the door. I have had a quick look at the product. https://www.duffells.com/amfile/file/download/file/24/product/26760/...

How to fix acoustic plasterboard to block wall without dot and dab?

I have seen people in AV forums recommend that you fill the void with expanding foam (after using dot and dab adhesive). You would need to drill a series of holes in the plasterboard and squirt in the expanding foam to close the cavity. You might however need to drill a lot of holes. Ideally...

    Taller Mitre Box (and saw)

I guess that you mean that you need to find someone that can calibrate timber framing with straight edges. To be honest, I don't know the answer. I own a Nobex Champion (manual) mitre saw. I could cut the slot (up to180mm tall), but if you got someone with an electric mitre saw to cut it for...

    Asbestos garage roof

6 by 2? That is tiny, do you mean metres rather than feet? The fibreglass roof will require OSB or ply. You will need additional supports/joists. Ten grand still sounds expensive. I have only fibre glassed two roofs, but that was back in September 2007- can you post the quote? Someone more...

    Private Number Plates

Coolest number plate I have seen in a while... the Bang and Olfusen store in Ealing Broadway (W5) has "W5BNO"

    Private Number Plates

Rover P6- the first car I was in during an accident. Stepfather was on the A1 to Grantham, we hit black ice as he approached the roundabout. The Rover missed the trees on the roundabout and ended up in the middle of the roundabout. The car was built like a tank- I am convinced that it would...

    Asbestos garage roof

£10,000 for new roof? How big is it? I am guessing that much of the cost is related to the disposal of the sheets. Can you not just plasterboard the ceiling?

    My kitchen refit.

Out of interest, if you are going to have an integrated tumble drier, which one will it be? She wot scowls at me when I walk through the door, got Wren to replace the kitchen that I custom made 20 years earlier. We ended up with a Hoover branded heat pump dryer. 3 years down the line, I had to...

    Taller Mitre Box (and saw)

Sorry if I was not clear. Let's assume that the widest decking board is 250mm. Make the mitre box 250mm deep. When you need to cut the 100*100mm timber, rather than moving the walls of the mitre box, just clamp the 100mm timber to the back of the box (so that it doesn't move when sawing)...

Fridge freezer next to oven. Problem?

Agreed, as previously stated, the heat is expelled via the front, ie, the fan blows it forward.

Fridge freezer next to oven. Problem?

Our floor to ceiling unit houses our fan oven and micro-combi steam oven. Granted, the cabinet has end panels (meaning 38mm of "wood), but the surface of the end panels never feel hot when the oven is running. Our integrated fridge is next to the tall unit, that said, only the lower part of...

    Wire End Crimps

Do you mean Blade Crimp Terminals? If yes, RS have a wide range https://uk.rs-online.com/web/c/connectors/wire-terminals-splices/spade-connectors/?applied-dimensions=4294885308,4292033586

Fridge freezer next to oven. Problem?

Fan assisted ovens don't get hot enough to damage the cabinets. Most of the heat is directed forwards. I don't see a problem, but I am only guessing. I have worked in houses where they were next to each other with 19 or 38mm panels between them.

    Taller Mitre Box (and saw)

Why not make it the width of the largest boards you will cut, and then clamp the smaller bits of timber to the further face of the box?
