Reattaching window handle with stripped fixings

As far as I can tell there is a gap both in front of and behind the metal frame. So if I poke something into it, it falls out the other side. Maybe I can manage to bed some wire around the back so it doesn’t. Worth trying.

Reattaching window handle with stripped fixings

Correct. The threaded holes for the handle bolts are stripped.

Reattaching window handle with stripped fixings

there is clearance either side of the metal bracket that the bolts need to attach to. And this is encased in the uPVC itself. So it’s not obvious how to add something here

Reattaching window handle with stripped fixings

It has one bolt either side of a handle that turns in 90 degree increments. The actual mechanism is operated with a square spindle. So I guess “new style”? The two nothing bolts go through a hole in the uPVC and into a metal bracket which is inside the window itself. I suspect the bracket is...

Reattaching window handle with stripped fixings

Hi, On one of our uPVC windows, the handle has been pulled out by years of kids opening and closing the window and the handle being loose. Unfortunately it’s not just a matter of tightening the bolts, because the bolt holes in the metal bracket inside the window are stripped. The screws won’t...

90V AC potential to ground, occasional tingling sensation

I must admit I did not spend much money on the power supply itself. I’ve actually tested four different AC-DC power supplies for the 90V AC potential to ground. One is a £10 9V power adapter, plastic middle prong. Then there are a 12V and an 18V plastic-middle-prong adapters that are the input...

90V AC potential to ground, occasional tingling sensation

Hi, I have various DC-powered devices (guitar effects pedals and related gear). They are powered with 9V, 12V or 18V centre-negative DC power supplies. I also have AC-powered amplifiers that I have built myself. Yesterday, for the first time I can recall, I felt a mild shock/tingle when...
