Thanks. That makes sense. Looking in person it does look like there's a slight drop towards that elbow. There are 2 pipes with thermostats on that are presumably 28mm and 2 that are smaller including that one.
Is it OK to cut a hole into the elbow or the straight piece below as an access...
I'm assuming there is a problem with the routing of the pipework horizontally behind the burner?
The thermostat has lost a spring to hold it to the pipe, I assumed I could get a replacement to hook it back in properly
I've recently moved into a property with a multi fuel stove running the central heating. A friend of mine who sweeps chimneys advised that we should add an inspection hatch at a bend of the flue. The flue comes straight up from the stove, then bends around 45 degrees to go into the wall behind...
What's coming out of the old tiling is definitely plastic - looks to be quite old itself but I'm guessing until I get that tiling off I won't really know what I'm working with.
It is a horizontal outlet and I'm planning on fitting with a 90 degree connector and boxing out behind with some...
I had a look at some of these options a while ago but decided to go with a standard close coupled toilet because of the extra choice and because the toilet is in a recess which is perfect for boxing in behind with storage above
Definitely want to know i can finish the job when I start it!
Would be good if that's the case. I'm hoping the old pan will come out relatively easily from the waste so that I don't cause any damage!
That sounds like it makes sense as to what the plastic is above the floor. Would the replacement would be something like this:

Thanks both for your help
Sorry, I think I might have been misleading in the first post. The plastic that the toilet is currently connected into that is above the floor feels pretty solid, but there is some give in it at the top where I can press on it if that makes any sense. It's not a completely rigid plastic but it's...
I'm not worried about the pan being out from the wall, I've already planned for that so all good there and no need to move the waste at all.
Looking at what you can see on the surface is it possible to leave what's there in place and use a pan connector directly into that or do I need to dig...
I'm in the process of replacing my bathroom and next step is the toilet. It's the only toilet in the house so have to make sure I'm 100% confident / have all the tools and bits ready before I take the old one out!
I was expecting to have a clay socket coming out of the floor that the very old...
Yeah, I think that's my backup option. I'd prefer it to be on the central heating ideally (or dual electric and central heating) but might have to go down the electric route if that's the only way.
Electrics are also all surface mounted in trunking and would either have to go through the 2 foot...
I'm looking for a bit of advice to think through how I can add a small towel rail into my bathroom which is in a single storey extension with concrete floor.
All the radiators are fed in 15mm run along / down the walls in the house I have a couple of problems I'm trying to look at:
1) the...
